OPENING OF PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION IN LIMASSOL MUNICIPALITY
Faces of Limassol: Capturing diversity
With a rich photographic material and with faces and activities of immigrant and refugee communities living in Limassol, the photo exhibition “Faces of Limassol: Capturing diversity” opened its doors yesterday at the Limassol City Hall. The exhibition presents 50 photos that were distinguished at competition of the same name, organized by Limassol Municipality in cooperation with the Cyprus Photographic Society (Limassol Department), as part of the “Limassol, one city the whole world” Integration Program.
The opening of the exhibition was made by the mayor of Limassol, Nikos Nikolaides, who honored the three prized photographs and praised the other five who stood out. In his brief greeting the mayor stressed that the participants record with their photos the history of the city and promote “the city of Limassol as a place of harmonious coexistence of people and cultures”.
The exhibition coincides with the International Immigrant Day, which is celebrated every December, and aims to highlight the social, cultural, and economic contribution of immigrants to the local community. The photo competition “Faces of Limassol: Capturing diversity” started last April, with 16 participations and more than 130 photos.
