The activities of “Limassol: One city, the whole world” program, one of the most successful integration programs for third-country nationals who legally live and work in Cyprus, will be completed in August.
The program was implemented for the 8th consecutive year and will be renewed in September until the beginning of 2022. The goal of the Municipality of Limassol and its partners is to support the process of integration of TCNs by the local community and the prevention of social exclusion. During the 18 months of this cycle, among other things, the beneficiaries were offered opportunities to upgrade their skills, socialize and get to know the local population.
The actions “street work” and interventions at schools were also important with a large number of TCNs and social workers participating. SKE Mesa Geitonias offered day-care and support for students’ schoolwork. Many educational excursions were also implemented throughout Cyprus by the Municipalities of Limassol and Agios Athanasios. As part of the project, actions were implemented during many events with the aim of interacting with the local community and accepting diversity. Some of them were the Europe Day Event, the World Refugee Day event, the “Anthestiria”, a Sports Day and a tree planting event.
The corporate scheme of the program consists of the Municipality of Limassol, as coordinator and its partners the Municipality of Agios Athanasios, the Municipality of Germasogeia, SKE Mesa Geitonias and the consultants Opinion & Action Services.
The program is co-funded by the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund by 90% and the Republic of Cyprus (10%), with a total budget for 18 months of 200,000 euros.
