“Cypriot Civilisation and Greek Language for TCNs During the Pandemic”
Municipality of Limassol, on behalf of the project “Limassol: One City, the Whole World” organizes online Greek lessons every Sunday as part of the integration process.
The lessons aim to promote the familiarization of migrants with Cyprus as a host country, the culture, customs, traditions and their active participation in society.
Despite the difficulties encountered by the pandemic including a lock-down in Limassol city, social assistance programs have not been affected. The first of the two groups of “Cypriot Civilization & Greek Language” begun on 15th November and will continue for 12 weeks. For the time being, the lessons are online via ZOOM platform, in hopes for face-to-face lessons as the COVID-19 ends.
The participants have the opportunity to learn about local society and also learn the Greek language by learning how to write and read at a very proficient level where as at the end of all the lessons they will be awarded by a certificate. These lessons are valuable for the “smooth” integration of migrants in the local society and to be active citizens in the local community.
The program is co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus.
