Awareness-raising event at Molos Limassol
An awareness-raising event to promote the work and activities of the “Limassol – one city, the whole world” programme will take place on Sunday 23 May in the morning at the Limassol Molos. The event will inform the citizens about the objectives of the programme, which aims to support the smooth integration of third country nationals living and working legally in the city and district of Limassol.
An information kiosk will be operating from 10.00 to 14.00, where project staff will inform citizens in both the Greek and English language. At the same time, from 11.00 to 13.00, a live radio programme will be broadcasted by a Pan-Cypriot station with multicultural content (music and speech) and messages for solidarity, understanding and acceptance of all Limassol residents, without discrimination.
Limassol is a multicultural city, a crossroads where people from different countries and cultures meet.
The activities of the project “Limassol: one city, the whole world” continue within the framework of the co-funded project by the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus. The project is one of the most important and successful migrant integration programmes in several years. At present, the programme stakeholders have paid particular attention to the following:
- Undertake activities to support and upgrade the skills of TCNs, despite the difficulties of the pandemic. A particular interest is shown in learning Greek.
- The preparation of a workshop to combat rumours against immigrants, highlighting their contribution to the economic, social, and cultural development of Limassol.
The project “Limassol – one city, the whole world” has been implemented since 2013, led by the Limassol Municipality, offering services to support the process of integration of Third Country Nationals (TCNs) in the local community of Limassol. The new implementation period of the project lasts for 18 months – from September 2020 to February 2022 – with a budget of €200,000. The project involves as partners the Municipality of Germasogeia, the Municipality of Ayios Athanasios, the Mesa Yitonias CVA, and Opinion & Action – strategy and communication consultants.
